Degradation Factors for Eye Diagrams Using FDTD–SPICE

چکیده
This paper examines several contributors to eye diagram degradation in high-speed digital systems. The eye diagrams are generated through a combination of full wave simulation and circuit analysis. The interconnect part of the analyzed structure is first characterized in terms of S parameters obtained with the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The resulting S parameters are used together with the convolution approach to perform time domain simulation of the complete circuit in SPICE.

Full Wave Analysis of Planar Interconnect Structures Using FDTD–SPICE
This paper describes a full wave approach for analyzing planar interconnect structures, such as power distribution systems in printed circuit boards and multichip modules, using a tightly coupled combination of FDTD and SPICE. The technique enhances the present hybrid full wave circuit methods in terms of robustness and efficiency. The method is applied to a few sample problems to illustrate it...

This paper investigates the use of the guard traces to improve the Time-Domain Transmission (TDT) waveform and eye diagram for a flat spiral delay line. Two types of guard trace are adopted to implement and analysis in microstrip line and stripline structures. One is Two Grounded Vias type Guard Trace (TGVGT) and the other is Open-Stub type Guard Trace (OSGT). The timedomain analysis results by...
متن کاملMixed Circuit/Electromagnetic Analysis of Field Coupling to High Speed Interconnects In Inhomogenous Medium
An efficient method is presented for rigorous analysis of incident field coupling to high speed interconnects. The method is based on generating time domain equivalent sources from incoming fields through finite difference time domain analysis (FDTD) and incorporating them with a circuit level simulator such as SPICE. With this approach, it is possible to perform a circuit analysis of arbitrari...

A conformal dispersive finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is developed for the study of one-dimensional (1-D) plasmonic waveguides formed by an array of periodic infinite-long silver cylinders at optical frequencies. The curved surfaces of circular and elliptical inclusions are modelled in orthogonal FDTD grid using effective permittivities (EPs) and the material frequency dispersion i...
متن کاملReliability of Nano-Scaled Logic Gates Based on Binary Decision Diagrams
Binary decision diagrams (BDDs) have been useful for synthesis and verification of digital circuits. This paper, for the first time, looks into the reliability of a few logic gates implemented using BDDs. The gates were designed using an advanced CMOS technology node and subject to threshold-voltage variations. The results of the Monte Carlo Spice simulations show that BDD-based gates are signi...
